Its very very nice, but smells of shit...
I got back from the Peak District this evening, I've been gone since Friday. I had a fantastic time, I missed being up in the hills so much. It great to be away and have no cares about anything back home or school.
The bus journey up on Friday night was fun, as all cadet bus journeys are. We had Jimmy Eat World blaring out or knakered speakers, while we cracked jokes, told stories and played some of Jimmy's great mind games.
Saturday started of well, I was up at 6:30 after only about three hours sleep, and prepared for the day by preparing an oversized bacon and egg butty washed down with a cup 'o char'. We headed out onto the hills after a short bus journey to the base of Mam Tor, one ontop of the ridge we were buffeted by feirce -6ºC winds. All though the day was a little bit nippy the weather was fantastic, barely a cloud in the sky. We walked about 18km which isn't a bad stint, since were all taking turns in leading exercises. We had some great laughs up in the Hills, not mentioning Mike striping down to a T-shirt in freezing winds and belly diving through a huge puddle of mud!! After returning to the camping barn we cleaned up, played cards and had a brief for the next day. Then followed fantastic fish and chips, of which I managed to eat 4 portions of chips and 1½ pieces of cod!!
The next morning was started the same way, before heading of on our search and rescue objective. I had charge over the beginner group with Cpl Stokes (Emma) as my 2IC. With some encouragement we got the group to our search point after recovering the downed pilot (Dan) we headed back to the buses. Before we left though JJ had the fantastic idea to slide down a ice over hill on his backside. It was very amusing to say the least.
We arrived back at Thurston about 4:30 Sunday evening. As soon as I got back to Thurston though the high spirits soon left and once I got home I was thoroughly pissed of, partly due to tiredness and because of the ton of homework in for next week.
Well it was another brilliant weekend and I'll publish some photos and the film of Mike, when Roland gives them to me.
