Sunday night saw me and Marc head up to the Sheffield for a 2 days of climbing. We got to my new house and went out with Rav and Guy to the haloed Balti King for a curry, only £72 more for a free T-shirt!! After the first night in my new room me and Marc headed out Early to Stanage for a good long easy days climbing. It started of cool, but dry and by early evening it was getting really warm and we'd racked up 8 climbs between us.
That evening we ate yet more curry, and spend several hours shooting the shit out of each other on the PlayStation, before heading to the york few a few pints and to learn a great new card game.
We headed out into the Peaks again Tuesday, this time with Rav in tow as designated photographer. After a couple of routes Marc set out on what potentially could have been his last. After placing a precarious bit of gear Marc moved up to the crux, after lots of hesitation Marc made the decisive move, however as his hand moved up his right foot broke free from the small bulge on which it was perched, Marc fell 2 or 3 meters before the rope went tight only slowing him down as his precarious bit of gear came flying out of the rock and followed Marc as he free fell the last 5 meters to me and the ground. However after a startled minute or two, Marc stood up, dusted himself down and smiled. Not a scratch, dent, broken bone or bruise! After triple checking Marc was still in one piece, and still in disbelieve I shot straight up the route that had so rudely spat Marc out, I reached the crux, made the move and continued up and over the top. Marc followed me up and to his great annoyance made the move that threw him the first time.
We climbed for the rest of the day, relatively safely and cracked some really great routes. For me i my best climb of the day was a great route with a sweet finish making it VS 4c! After two great days we headed back to flat old Suffolk, work and recuperation.
